2018

We are off to a fresh start and the second half of our school year. It would be beneficial if you and your child checked Infinite Campus once a week to stay on top of grades. It would also be beneficial if you had your child read at home for 15 minutes a day. AR goals cannot be accomplished within the time allotted in the school day.

Tutoring

It is important to check your child’s progress in  IC ( infinite campus). It is almost time for our 12 week progress report and Thursday will be the last tutoring day to complete any missing assignments. Don’t forget that tutoring is available on Tuesday and Thursday each and every week for the purpose of academic success. Your child can just find a classroom to complete his/her homework in or get additional help.  Tutoring is a place that is free of distractions, offers your child additional help, and promotes good study habits.

We hope to see our classrooms FULL on tutoring days.

Accelerated Reading Points:  8th 60 points by the end of the semester

7th  50 point by the end of the semester.

If your child reads at home he/she will be successful completing AR points. If you child is only reading during Prime , it will be difficult to accomplish this. I would suggest that you plan on an additional 15-20 minutes of reading a day if your child currently has 18-20 points. If you child does not, I recommend an additional 30 minutes a day. Remember that this counts towards 10% of the English Grade and the grade is added during the  semester grading cycle.

Read…read….read

We have had some crazy weather lately and it is hard to determine which season we are in. The calendar is telling us that summer is coming to a close and fall will be upon us. In addition, can you believe that  we have been in school for five weeks? I would like to remind you that 7th graders need to have 50 AR points and 8th graders 60 by the end of the first semester. Please check in with you child on his/her reading progress.

Happy September

We are in Week 3 of the 2017-2018 school year. It is important to make sure that your child has his/her needed supplies for each class. If you are not able to acquire supplies please call the counseling office.

In order for  7th graders to be successful it is important to help them in learning about organization. Periodically, go through  backpacks and have them clean it out. See if they are using their planner and check to see if paperwork is stored in correct folders and/or binders. This will help to establish good habits for academic success.

Tutoring begins on September 7th
